Another October, another year,
A month filled with holiday cheer.
The golden leaves beneath my feet,
Celebrate hot summer’s defeat.
Some may ask me to grieve passed time,
And do not know all years are mine.
A tree records within its rings,
Who am I to dwell on things?
Take me where leaves fall deep,
Where autumn settles in its sleep.
Let firelight warm the cooling air,
And leave the summer resting there.
This year I shall learn to grieve no loss,
Until the trees become green moss.
