A Coloring Book

A blank sheet of canvas I was,
wondering how the world revolves around
everything seemingly so intriguing
that intertwines into brushes of a Starry Night.

Toast to the relentless ants!
Their tiny legs embark on long marches
over mountains high and seas far
to my own dreams in far-off fields.

Toast to the celestial wonders!
They pick and choose every now and then
an attire of flux to dress me up in rain and snow
for life’s forever-precarious grand show.

Toast to the unique outliers!
Why do polar bears wear white? Why do owls patrol at night?
I weigh my anchor to charge full speed ahead
into the vast expanse of ocean’s misty threads.

I welcomingly heed nature’s whispers
of pigments coloring my empty heart.
Take a walk outside and tell me
what would you paint on your canvas?
