As November wraps up at Blair Academy, there’s a lively buzz in the air with the holiday season approaching. Thanksgiving break offered a brief pause to recharge before diving back into the whirlwind of academic and extracurricular commitments. Christmas trees remind students of the beginning of the winter season. Awaiting the Christmas jolly, it is time to celebrate! Here are top three Christmas activities to do in preparation for your winter vacation:
- Get Started with Christmas Decorations
First and most obvious get started with setting your festive vibes to your dorm room by using Christmas decorations! String up fairy lights, hang stockings, and grab your favorite holiday mug to drink hot chocolate with your friends. Participating in dorm-decorating contests, you and your fellow friends can show your holiday spirit while bonding too.
- Gifts, Gifts, Gifts!!!
My personal favorite, the winter season is the perfect time to exchange small tokens of appreciation! Whether it is baking small treats (cookies, gingerbread houses, or even favorite traditional treats from your own culture) to holiday cards it is time to showcase your love for your friends and family. At Blair, you and your closest friends could participate in the Secret Santa gift exchange as well before you leave for the holidays.
- Movie Marathon whilst sharing holiday treats
Have a winter movie marathon and gather your friends with your coziest blankets! Delve into the Christmas classics like Home Alone to The Polar Express whilst binge eating your favorite holiday snacks. You can ask your advisor, if available, to host a bake-off with friends or to surprise your family with homemade goodies! Winter is the perfect time to bake for love.
Pro tip: Peppermint hot cocoa goes perfectly with frosted sugar cookies, even if you prefer to admire it from afar.
All in all, the holidays are about giving back to our community. Whether it is through volunteering at the toy drive or for local schools nearby it is the time of the year to brighten those around you in small but meaningful ways. Before you leave, take the moment to reflect on the past 2025 year season and express gratitude to the loved ones around you. Happy Holidays!
