This year’s All-School Read author, Zachary Wood, will be visiting Blair this week from Wednesday, January 15 to Friday, January 17. Wood is a familiar figure to many students, as he is returning to Blair after his chapel in the spring of last year, during which he spoke about his experiences growing up and emphasized the importance of having uncomfortable conversations, themes that are also prevalent in his biography.
Many English classes discussed Uncensored at the beginning of the year and will be revisiting this topic upon Wood’s return to Blair. Students in English 1 and English 4 will also have the opportunity to discuss Zachary Wood’s biography with him during classes. His chapel last year even inspired a student to establish the Courageous Conversations club at Blair, which Wood will visit. The Young Democrats and Young Republicans Clubs will also be able to have discussions with Zachary Wood during their club meetings.
Any students who have questions or thoughts concerning Uncensored will be given the chance to have a conversation with Zachary Wood. The All-School Read Committee has organized a discussion table in the Locke Hall Conference Room open to fifteen students at 5:45 p.m. during Thursday’s formal dinner. These round table discussions give students the opportunity to ask questions and have meaningful conversations with Wood. While he is only visiting for three days, Wood will interact with many students and clubs, and there will be a number of opportunities to meet him during his time at Blair.
