Strike Out Cancer

The Strike Out Cancer fundraiser at this Saturday’s softball game raised money for Doc G and Marie Giuricich’s daughter, who has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

Before the game, the team hosted a pregame conference with the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. Cancer survivors were also invited.

This game for the softball MAPL title included Doc G throwing the first pitch.  A Blair alum also donated a dollar for every fan that showed up. Following the game, a party celebrating the team’s seniors took place.

Blair Academy won, with a score of 9-3. 183 people attended, and along with other donations, the event raised about $1,300.

Team member Jess VanValkenburg ’19, stated, “So far we’ve had a really strong season, and going in to the postseason, I’m really excited to keep the energy going.”
