New Must-Reads for Fantasy Lovers

Below are four fantasy books, all parts of series, that recently came out or are coming out soon. If you enjoy fantasy thrillers or adventure stories with a strong female heroine, these are must-reads.

A Court of Frost and Starlight by Sarah J. Maas



The fourth book in the A Court of Thorns and Roses series came out May 1st.

A Court of Thorns and Roses is a book series loosely based on Beauty and the Beast and the tale of Hades and Persephone. It’s told from the perspective of Feyre Archeron, a girl who was forced to provide for her family once her father, the “prince of merchants,” went into debt. Unable to pay back his clients, he was assaulted by a couple of them. Feyre began hunting to support her father and two sisters. One day in the woods, she killed what she thought was a wolf, but it was actually a faerie. For this violation, she was dragged from her home and taken to the faerie lands. This series documents her journey there and her travels around other lands.


Nightblood by Elly Blake



The final book in the Frostblood trilogy comes out June 5th.

The Frostblood series is centered around Ruby, a seventeen year old Fireblood who lives among the ruling Frostblood class. In order to stay alive, she must conceal her Fireblood powers. With the help of her mother, she manages to hide her gift for quite some time, but when a neighbor informs the Frostbloods about her abilities, guards show up at her house to take her away, and in an attempt to save Ruby, her mother is killed. The series focuses on Ruby’s fight for freedom and her desire to master her Fireblood powers.



Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J Maas


The final book in the Throne of Glass series is coming out October 23rd.

The series, which already includes 6 other books, takes place in the mythical land of Erilea, and follows Celaena Sardothien, a teenage assassin, on her journey fighting tyrannical rulers and demons.


Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Clare



The final book in the Dark Artifices series is coming out December 4th, 2018.

This series, a spinoff of Mortal Instruments, is set in Los Angeles, and is about Emma Carstairs’ search for answers to her parents tragic death, which happened five years before the story begins. She and her childhood friend, Julian Blackthorn, are warriors who are bound together for life and investigate a series of demonic killings around Southern California that lead them to answers about her parents’ murder.
