Meet This Year’s Class Council

Class of 2021, Sophomore Class Council:

Alyssa Frick

Alyssa is continuing her leadership on Underclass Council for a second consecutive year.

Katherine Holding: “Why did you want to join?”

Alyssa Frick: “I wanted to join UCC because I would love to represent my class and do all I can to make sure we have the best possible sophomore year.

 

Sofia Kasparik

This year, Sofia became a new member of Underclass Council.

KH: “What about UCC are you most excited for?”

Sofia Kasparik: “I’m most excited to plan more weekend activities and fun events.”

 

Sid Mehta

Sid made a return for his second year on Underclass Council.

KH: “What about UCC are you most excited for?”

Sid Mehta: “Helping people out.”

 

Oliver Tipton

Oliver is a new member of the Underclass Council.

KH: “What about UCC are you most excited for?”

Oliver Tipton: “I’m super excited to help plan the dances [and] events!”

 

Tess Whitehead

Tess has been re-elected for her second year on Underclass Council.

KH: “What about UCC are you most excited for?”

Tess Whitehead: “As a sophomore, I am excited to go into this next year knowing a little more about how [UCC] works, and being able to work on things that I think would make [next] year even better…I get to collaborate with people that weren’t on it last year, [and] they can bring an outsider’s view to help the group.”

Eric Zhang

Eric joined the Underclass Council next year as a spokesperson for the rising sophomore class.

KH: “Why did you want to join UCC?”

Eric Zhang: “I wanted to join UCC because I love the Class of 2021, and being in UCC gives me the opportunity to listen to the different suggestions my classmates have to offer, and make Blair life more fun and engaging.”

Class of 2020, Junior Class Council:

Kate Antonelli

This year will be Kate’s third year at Blair and first time representing the Class of 2020.

KH: “Why did you want to join JCC?”

Kate Antonelli: “I wanted to join JCC because when I saw the JCC at the pep rally they were doing their skit and they looked like they had so much fun. I also wanted to be part of Blair in a bigger way.”

 

Kaz Hirata

Coming as a new sophomore to the class of 2020, Kaz Hirata, was elected to join the Junior Class Council this year.

KH: “Why did you want to join JCC?”

Kaz Hirata: “I wanted to join JCC because I thought it was cool.”

 

Alex Kirby

Alex Kirby is serving her third year on Class Council.

KH: “What about JCC are you most excited for?”

Alex Kirby: I am most excited to make the haunted house scary and design some AMAZING Headmasters Week gear!

 

Savannah Lee

Savannah is joining Class Council for the first time this year.

KH: Why did you want to join JCC?

Savannah Lee: I joined Class Council because I wanted to bring fun and seriousness to next year’s activities and make sure everybody in my grade’s wishes can be made into a reality!

Carmen Liuzza

Carmen is starting his third consecutive year on Class Council.

KH: What about JCC are you most excited for?

Carmen Liuzza: Working with new people and making a difference.

 

Aidan Riano

Aidan will be a new member of JCC for the class of 2020 this year.

KH: “Why did you want to join JCC?”

Adain Riano: “I really do enjoy helping the people at Blair, and I thought JCC would be a way for me to more formally help.”

 

Jordan Ullman

Jordan is newly involved with student government.

KH: “Why did you want to join JCC?”

Jordan Ullman: “I wanted to join JCC to be able to make some of the most memorable times with the most incredible people. Junior year is a true testament to the mental strength of each individual and I believe JCC can be a source to lighten the load. By providing each member of the Class of 2020 with lasting memories from the most important four years of their lives, that is the true importance of a Class Council.”

 

Boris Vlasov

After joining the Blair community as a new Sophomore, Boris was elected as a new member of Class Council.

KH: “Why did you want to join JCC?”

Boris Vlasov: “[I want] to make life as a Junior more fun.”

 

Class of 2019, Senior Class Council:

Aidan Abrahamsen

Aidan has returned to Class Council for his senior year.

EN: “Why did you want to join SCC?”

Aiden Abrahamsen: “I joined SCC in order to allow myself more opportunities to positively impact the people around me.”

 

Teddy Balestro

Teddy is marking his fourth year on Class Council.

KH: “Why did you want to join SCC?”

Teddy Balestro: “I joined SCC to bring laughter into our lives after a long week.”

 

Ella Haines

Ella will continue her tenure on Class Council this year.

KH: “Why did you want to join SCC?”

Ella Haines: “I loved being on JCC this year, and I wanted to continue representing my classmates throughout our final year at Blair.”

 

Justin Leung

Justin is joining Class Council for the first time.

KH: “What are you most excited for about Senior Class Council?”

Justin Leung: “[I am] just creating good content– making school meeting fun– just making student life better for everyone.”

 

Jake Mantegna

Jake is a returning representative of the Class of 2019.

KH: “Why did you want to join SCC?”

Jake Mantegna: “I have always thought it would be a really cool experience, and I wanted to be able to have a say and give my classmates a say in the daily affairs of the school.”

 

Essie Pasternak

Essie has returned for her second year representing the Class of 2019.

KH: “Why did you want to join SCC?”

Essie Pasternak: “I wanted to be a part of the group that the Blair community looks up to. SCC is among the main liaisons between students and faculty. Class Councils and SCC.  plays a huge role in developing the attitude of the community. We are a fun group of kids to say the least and I am very excited [for] we have in store for next year!”

 

Jillian Rogers

This year, Jillian will join Class Council for the first time.

KH: “What about SCC are you most excited for?”

Jillian Rogers: “I’m most excited to experience everything involved with being on a Class Council and filling my senior year with great memories that I’ll cherish forever.”

 

Lena Srun

Lena will be returning to Class Council.

EN: “What about SCC are you most excited for?”

Lena Srun: “I’m super excited to be part of a group that has such a positive impact on a community and hope that we can embody the spirit of Blair. Blair has given me so much happiness and laughter. I hope I can give a fraction of that back to the school.”

 

Elizabeth Negvesky

Elizabeth Negvesky, 16, is a three year junior at Blair Academy from northeast Pennsylvania. She is excited to be joining the Oracle team as senior editor for the 2018-2019 school year. Her interests include writing, yoga, pottery, and archery. She looks forward to growing the Oracle in closer conjunction with the interests of Blair’s diverse student community.
