Topping the Billboard 200 is Kendrick Lamar with his new album To Pimp A Butterfly. This album consists of very powerful and explicit songs. Kendrick combines jazz, funk, history, and hip hop all together in this amazing new album. Featured artists on this album include Snoop Dogg, Anna Wise, Ronald Isley, Bilal, Rapsody, and many more. His songs attack violence in African American communities and institutionalized racism. It is clear that his album is influenced both by his community and music legend Tupac Shakur. His songs range from powerful songs like The Black the Berry to jazzy songs like King Kunta. This easily might be the best album of the year, along with J. Cole’s 2014 Forest Hills Drive of course. It is incredibly powerful and influential.
