Blair Academy officially began its holiday season on Thursday evening as students and faculty gathered outside of Hardwick Hall for the annual Insley Hall Tree Lighting. The ceremony opened with a speech from Reverend Durkee and featured religious readings from several students.

The A Cappella club performed popular holiday songs including “All I Want For Christmas Is You” and “Winter Wonderland,” with solos by Kendra Payne, Annie Mulholland, Nina Sigety, Siena Tipton, and Matt Bottone. Santa Claus (Doc G) was also in attendance, and gave the countdown preceding the lighting of the tree by Insley prefects and students. When asked for his thoughts on the event, Mr. Wenner wrote, “The tree lighting ceremony is a wonderful tradition and opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate the holiday season.” The ceremony concluded with students flocking to the display of cookies and hot cocoa.
