Dear College Counselor: What is the difference between Early Decision and Early Action?
The difference between them is that Early Action is non-binding. That means you don’t have to enroll if you are admitted. Early Decision is binding, and that means if you are admitted, you are expected to enroll. The only caveat to that is if you are a financial aid student applying early decision, and you don’t get good enough financial aid, then the offer is null.
