In an outpouring of support from the whole community, dozens of Blair students and faculty went to Mountain Creek on Monday to cheer on Blair’s Ski Team in their first and only race as a whole team this season; it was dedicated to Juliette.
Despite the cold, the audiences were shouting out words of encouragement and ringing cowbells for the skiers. It felt special to be there on the mountain and to deliver the love of the whole Blair community to this team. “It was the best feeling ever,” said team member Nina Sigety ’19 of the spirited backing. “By the time I got to the bottom I heard 40 people cheering for me.”
It has been a tough time for the team and it was incredible and impressive to see them come together to finish this race with such strength and courage. The Blair community had been sending constant love and help throughout the past months. “It is really nice to know everyone is there to support you,” said another member of the team, Connor O’Neill ’18.
In the end, Boys Varsity came in first and Girls Varsity came in fourth. Both Boys and Girls JV teams placed second. We wish the team the best of luck for the rest of their season.
