On January 8, 2020 the Blair Boys Varsity Basketball team hosted the Hun School. The game started at 5:30, and Michael O’Connell ’20 opened strong for Blair with the first drive and 2 points of the game. Only 53 seconds into the first quarter, Hun called a timeout because Blair led by 5. Hun brought Blair’s lead down to 1 by the end of the first quarter. By the end of the first half, Blair led 35-15, and then widened the lead to 52-21 at the end of the third quarter. The final score was 59-42.
This game was another strong victory to add to an already strong season – another win in the column on a 12-0 season. The Bucs seek to retain their status as MAPL Champions. Given the significant score differential of this most recent victory over Hun, the Bucs are certainly setting a high bar for 2020 MAPL play as well. Their next game, against The Patrick School, will be a tough test at a neutral court in Toms River, NJ.
The Emma van der Veen Player of the Game Award goes to Kyle Cuffe, Jr. ’22, for some unstoppable energy and well executed dunks.
