Athlete Profile: Hallie Guyton

Below is an interview of a featured athlete, Hallie Guyton. Hallie is a two-year junior, and she is currently playing for the varsity tennis team at Blair. She has been playing tennis for three years, and she enjoys playing tennis for fun. Hallie is involved in a wide range of school activities, including crew, dance marathon, and student ambassadors, but among these, she insists that tennis is her favorite.

Shauna Kwag: What do you like about the sport?

Hallie Guyton: “I like that it is both an individual sport and a team sport. I think it is really fun.”

SK: Do you play doubles or singles?

HG: “I play doubles.”

SK: What is your favorite memory of the season?

HG: “Probably in pre-season, one of the days we went to New York to an indoor tennis court. On the way, we went to a bakery and ate a bunch of muffins and bagels. As soon as we got to the tennis court, we had to do the hardest workouts of our lives which was really funny, because we stuffed our faces with food right before and we were all dying together as a team.”

SK: What are some of your goals for the season?

HG: “To become closer with my teammates and to improve on my doubles’ playing.”

SK: What do you value in a team?

HG: “Supporting one another no matter what and cheering each other on.”

SK: What is your greatest strength?

HG: “Probably even when losing a point, I try to stay positive and keep my other partner ready for the next point.”

SK: What is your greatest weakness?

HG: “Getting in my head. I get nervous and beat myself up sometimes.”

SK: What are practices like?

HG: “It’s really fun. We have the music playing and we just do our basic warm ups. Then, we have fun games and drills. The managers also play with us which is really fun.”

SK: What is your hopeful seasonal record?

HG: “Undefeated season! We haven’t lost yet.” *

We are wishing Hallie the best of luck this season and go Bucs!
