Ask Daiden: Time for Myself?

Q: How do I have a social life and still have time for myself?

Daiden: This question basically sums up my junior year. Everything just felt so hectic. I spent almost every single moment of the day with someone. I woke up to get ready with my roommate and the other guys in the dorm, went to class, School Meeting, lunch, more class, practice, dinner, study hall, ten to eleven in the dorm, then to bed to do it all again the next day. It gets pretty exhausting after a while.

It took me some time to find a balance between the two. For those of you with different free blocks from your roommate, take advantage of the empty room. Just chill by yourself for 50 minutes once or twice a week. Even if you only listen to music and scroll through Instagram, that time alone would still be a good breather. If you don’t have a different free block from your roommate, find yourself a quiet spot on campus. Make it comfy. It doesn’t have to be much, as long as you can spend some time on your own. Any time taken to clear your head will go a long way.
