Over the course of the first semester students have been meeting with faculty and others to discuss the election. The implications are obviously very important no matter where you lie on the political spectrum.
In the final seminar, which took place on Thursday, November 10, we discussed the aftermath of the election. In order to do so more thoroughly, we had a guest, Mr. Thomas, join us. Mr. Thomas is a Public Policy Specialist at the law firm Akin Gump. The topic of discussion ranged from the chaos surrounding President-elect Trump’s transition team to the seemingly inevitable death of the Trans-Pacific Partnership. Mr. Thomas helped guide us through the conversation with a level of insight and hands-on experience otherwise not available. All in all, these roundtable discussion have provided many students, including me, with more clarity in an otherwise turbulent time.
